Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • measuring spoons
  • Cups, glass jar for storage

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of high-quality organic turmeric powder
  • 1 cup of water plus additional if needed
  • 1/4 cup of organic virgin coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoons of freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

Combine Ingredients

  • In your medium saucepan, whisk together the turmeric powder and water over low heat. Gradually add more water if the mixture is too thick, aiming for a smooth, paste-like consistency.

Simmer

  • Continue to simmer the mixture on low heat for about 7 to 10 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.

Enhance Absorption

  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool slightly. Then, stir in the coconut oil and ground black pepper. These ingredients are crucial for enhancing the bioavailability of curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric.

Storage

  • Transfer the cooled paste into a clean glass jar and seal tightly. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

While turmeric paste offers numerous health benefits, it’s essential to observe your dog’s reaction and consult with a veterinarian if you’re introducing it, especially if your dog has pre-existing health conditions.
